Kindergarten

So I just attended my sons kindergarten graduation at a public school in small town America. They had not one but two prayers. Not that I am bitching, but I thought that prayer in school was unconstitutional. No one in this town is gonna complain because everyone here goes to "church", except me. I believe that organized religion is the cause of most of the worlds problems and should be stopped before it kills a million more people. I am not atheist though most of my friends are.
All religious organizations have some kind of agenda that is generally based on a scheme of power or control. Christianity itself is so tainted and corrupted that it could hardly be called a religion anymore. They will not even abide by their own precepts. Every fundamentalist christian I have ever conversed with always start back peddling when I say money is the root of all evil. None of them want to hear that. Especially the wealthy pastors.
Back to the prayer in school issue. Most of these bible thumping zealots like to say that our country was founded on God, the christian God mind you, so why shouldn't we have prayer in schools and God on the money and religious political leaders? But it is simply not so. Thomas Jefferson was an atheist. The bulk of our founders were, yes christian, but they were running from religious oppression and wanted none of it in our government. It was their own personal beliefs and those deep seated convictions were there own not the governments. Now we have the zealots saying that it the lack of God in our government that is causing such a break down of society.
